When a title dies, who do you become?
💣 In 2025, 78,000+ people have lost tech jobs due to AI.
But what's even scarier than losing a job... is losing who you thought you were.

You’re not just unemployed.
You’re unrecognizable to yourself.

😶 The Silent Collapse of Identity
Most people think job loss is about money.
But for many of us, especially mid-career professionals,
your job is your identity.
You’ve spent 10–15 years climbing a ladder.
Optimized your life around designations, EMIs, and performance reviews.
And suddenly — one email erases all of that.
“You are not your job” sounds nice…
Until you’re forced to ask:
Then who the hell am I?
💔 My Breaking Point
I’ve been fired.
I’ve failed at multiple startups.
But nothing crushed me like the fall of my eCommerce startup during COVID.
I'd scaled to half a million USD in revenue.
Took business loans. Got warehouses.
Hid the risks from my wife.
Hoped to bootstrap my way to glory.
Then… lockdowns.
Orders dried. Warehouses emptied.
The banks came knocking. So did reality.
💬 “My wife threatened to leave me.
Everything went numb.
I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize the man staring back.”
Was I a techie?
A failed founder?
A house husband?
The world didn’t know what to call me.
I didn’t either.
🔁 The Shift — From Titles to Truth
Here’s what they don’t tell you:
Losing a job takes away your income.
Losing your identity takes away your purpose.
But somewhere in the rubble, I discovered something strange —
I wasn’t dead. I was just title-less.
I started writing.
I started learning again.
I launched BitByBharat.
I built faceless YouTube channels.
I enrolled for a Masters in AI/ML.
Not to escape my past.
But to rewrite my definition.
💬 “People still ask: What are you now? A house husband? A jobless manager?”
I smile and say: I’m a builder. A creator. A comeback story in progress.
🧰 The Reinvention Blueprint
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
But if you’re lost after a layoff or startup failure, here’s what helped me begin again:
1. Learn Something New (Even Badly)
Don’t chase perfection. Chase movement.
I started my Masters in AI/ML not because I had to —
But because I refused to be left behind.
2. Write Your Thoughts (Messy is Okay)
You don’t need a blog. Just open Notion.
Writing helps untangle the mess inside your head.
3. Build Something Small (and Real)
A blog. A tool. A video. A Notion system. Anything.
Creation is the fastest way to regain self-worth.
4. Name Your New Identity
Not the job. The essence.
Are you a Creator? A Coach? A Storyteller? A Builder?
🌱 If You’re Feeling Lost…
Maybe you’re reading this in your pajamas.
Mid-scroll. Mid-doubt. Mid-anxiety.
Let me tell you something brutal, but honest:
Your old title is gone.
But your new self hasn’t even arrived yet.
And that space in-between?
That uncomfortable, identity-less middle?
That’s where the rebuild begins.
You don’t need clarity. You need courage.
You don’t need a roadmap. You need a reason.
You don’t need a job. You need to remember your worth.
💬 “Failures are stepping stones of success.
If that’s true, then I’m closer than I’ve ever been.”
🔜 Coming Up in Post 8:
The Ethical Earthquake — Power, Fairness & Exploitation
AI isn’t just changing jobs — it’s shifting power. This brutally honest post exposes the ethical fault lines in AI adoption, from resume rejections to algorithmic firings.
